
Montague Saulez

Dr. Montague N. Saulez (BVSc MS DACVIM-LA DECEIM PhD) has spent almost 15 years in higher education culminating in an Associate Professorship in Equine Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa. During his tenure he has had numerous faculty and student administrative, teaching and research responsibilities. Dr. Saulez established the Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery and was the Director of the Equine Internal Medicine Residency Program at Onderstepoort.
Dr. Saulez is a specialist in Equine Internal Medicine as recognized by the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC), Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM). He is both a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) and European College of Equine Internal Medicine (DECEIM).
After graduating from the University of Pretoria (1998), Montague completed an Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery (Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons, 2001), a Residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine (Oregon State University, 2003) and a Fellowship in Equine Neonatology and Perinatology (McGee Medical Center, 2004). He returned to South Africa and completed a PhD (University of Pretoria, 2008) while working as a specialist in Equine Internal Medicine at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria.
Montague practices as an equine specialist internist in the Winelands region (Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek) of the Western Cape. His interests include equine and camelid (lamas and alpacas) neonatology; poor performance in the Thoroughbred racehorse; upper respiratory tract disorders and oncology.
